It seems that there are certain things that students, professors, and professionals all need to have when they are making a presentation – a copy of their presentation on their USB drive (without that – things might be a little ackward!), a presentation suit (got to look fabulous!) and of course business cards.  Business cards are essential at these presentations and conferences because they provide your contact information for other professionals and students to contact you regarding your presentation, paper, or to network.  Above is my latest business card for my three conferences that I will be attending this May and June in San Francisco, Amsterdam, and Athens.  I am so excited!

But – with the changing of how people are using technologies – it appears that business cards are going electronic and mobile as well!  The new site Contxts allows people to send their information that they would have on their business cards by SMS.  I think that this is an interesting service for them to offer to professionals and makes it easy to get contact information on your phone – but there is something about having that physical business card in hand.  Besides, what happens if someone can’t get the SMS or the phone that you are using breaks?  Technology is wonderful when it works – so it is always good to have that business card on hand.  That is just my personal opinion.  I would say that it is good to do both Contxt and the physical business card for professionals today – can’t have too much of a good thing. 🙂

Hope you all are having a great day! 🙂

Best Wishes,

Karen
