It seems to be that time of year again – many things are associated with the month of April.  Spring time, finals, and graduation to name a few. 🙂  It seems that students right now are trying to apply to various positions – whether they are for summer internships or for PR positions.

One area that seems to be growing of course in leaps and bounds is social media.  More agencies are using social media like Facebook and Twitter as part of their campaigns – and are shifting away from television and other traditional media outlets.  There appears to be some corporations and brands that are succeeding in their industry (ex. JetBlue) whereas there are others that are struggling during this recession (ex. Wendy’s).

Students need to learn and incorporate social media into their skill set.  There are various ways to do this – and there is a great article that appeared on Mashable that discusses how to effectively use social media to get ahead in your career. From knowing how to use these various types of platforms for your client to effectively manage your own online reputation – these are all skills that public relations students and professionals need to have in this ever changing work environment.

Hope you all are having a great day!

Best Wishes,

Karen
