Social media has definitley made its mark among the American public.  According to a recent study conducted by Nielson, it appears that social media is growing every day by the numbers.  Nielson came out with results from their new study looking at social media, and there were some interesting findings.  First, it appears that social networking is the #4 online activity across age groups – and it is now ahead of people using email.  That is amazing!  Also, the biggest age group to get online and use these social networking sites (ex. Facebook) were people in the 35-49 age group.

It appears that social media continues to grow as a form of communication across age groups – and it goes to show that it has truly transformed how we communicate as a society and with each other.  For public relations professionals, this is definitely important to know for our campaigns, research, and intereactions with our publics.  It is amazing how Facebook has had such an impact in just the past couple of years, so it  will definitley be interesting to see the numbers and statistics for Twitter.

Thought you all would like to see this.  Hope you are having a great day! 🙂

Best Wishes,
