The last post that I did a few days ago was focusing on Infographics, and how these can be created via Adobe Illustrator and other software programs and sites.  People are expecting to see information presented themselves in a unique and visual way, and infographics are a great way to do this for yourself as an individual.  But what about using these for the classroom to discuss a specific topic?  I am thinking that integrating these infographics as additional tools and handouts (as well as embedding them into presentations with proper citations) will be the way to go.

Visual.ly is picking up stream as being a place where people can search, create, and upload inforgraphics for the online community.  Think of this as being the Slideshare for Infographics – but this is turning out to be a wonderful education and training resource site.

By just searching in the Visual.ly site, you can search on various topics, including crisis communications. From airlines to the uprising in Egypt, these are just a few examples of how to visually present information on related topics that can be incorporated into traditional teaching and research sources for students, practitioners, and investigators.

In summary, what is exciting about this is that Visual.ly is going to be a database of a wealth of information that can be incorporated and used for training and education purposes.  Curating and creating content on specific topics currently being discussed in various online communities will continue to help others engage in dialogue and evolve the field for the future.

Hope you all are having a wonderful day!

Best Wishes,

Karen
