The last couple of weeks have been definitely pretty busy for me. I was in presentation mode for sure! I first went to the APS Convention in San Francisco, and then it was off to Amsterdam for the Reputation Institute Conference. It was a great experience to participate at the RI Conference – I really enjoyed my time in Amsterdam and meeting fellow professionals and researchers that work in reputation management. I also had fun working on my case study paper and poster on Heineken – it was a fun project to work on and gave me an insight into a prominent corporation with a strong reputation.
I was back in Knoxville, Tennessee for about two days, and then it was off to the ATINER conference in Greece. WOW! It really went by fast, but I guess that happens when you are having a fabulous time! 🙂
What is up next for me? Well, I don’t have any conferences until August, where I will be presenting at the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) in Boston. I co-wrote a paper with my advisor, Dr. Michael Palenchar, which focuses on determining what is the current status of undergraduate public relations programs in the United States. What also is exciting is that our paper is part of the Top Teaching Papers for the conference! 🙂 We will be presenting our paper as part of the top teaching research panel that is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 6th from 5:00-6:30 p.m.
I have thoroughly enjoyed going to conferences and presenting. It has been a busy year for me – AEJMC will mark my fifth conference this year, and my 8th since I have been at the University of Tennessee. But I do believe that it is important to network with other professionals and present research in public relations to fellow scholars, researchers, and practitioners. It is good to receive feedback and suggestions for future research as well as making connections to collaborate on other studies. Conferences are a lot of fun, and I am really looking forward to attending and presenting at AEJMC in a few months. 🙂
Hope you all are having a great day. 🙂
Best Wishes,
Karen
