I am always fascinated when going to other countries on how certain corporations are closely linked to the nation brand of that country.  I feel like whenever I travel – I always try to explore the culture and surroundings to get the complete experience.  From eating the local cuisine (what can I say, I am a complete and total foodie!) to finding out from others where are the places and activities that I must do to fully understand the culture and country. This means of course looking at what brands are popular in the country and which ones best present the personality of that country.  For example, I would say that Amarula would be considered as part of South Africa, and the skin treatment product line and brand Ahava for Greece.  Now, what brands do you think of when you think of the Netherlands?  Well, for me – it was definitely Heineken.

Heineken has one of the top global reputation brands presently (#69 according to the Reputation Institute), and have a strong corporate reputation that is even part of their overall mission and value statement on their web site.  What is really facinating and cool is the fact that when you are in Amsterdam, you can actually go and participate in the Heineken Experience.  People are able to come to the main brewery in Amsterdam and participate in making their own distinct Heineken, shop for various gifts to bring back home, and really get the insights into the Dutch corporation.  How neat is that?! 🙂  This is definitely a must-do for me when I am in Amsterdam in May presenting at the Reputation Institute Conference! 🙂

Hope you all are having a great day!

Best Wishes,

Karen
