As one chapter of my life comes to an end at the University of Tennessee, another will be beginning this upcoming fall in a new place and new university.  I am extremely excited and honored to announce that I have accepted and will be an Assistant Professor in Strategic Communications at the University of Louisville.

Louisville is a great city and I am looking forward to this next step in both my academic and professional career.  The university is a very beautiful campus in the center of the city and the football stadium is just across the way from where the Kentucky Derby is held (Churchhill Downs).  Very cool!  I know that I will have to make sure to be appropriately dressed and ready to go with a fabulous hat and friends and family to attend the famous event with amazing activities and horse races. 🙂

I will be teaching in a department that is very interdisciplinary and involved in both the undergraduate and graduate levels in Communications.  These classes are also available in not only the traditional class setting, but also online as well. What I like about strategic communications is that it focuses on various aspects of communications along with advertising, PR, and marketing together to make the bridge between theory and application in campaigns and research studies. In addition, combining both of these areas while also discussing current cases and new emerging technology trends is very exciting to be a part of.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my four years as a doctoral student at the University of Tennessee and I am grateful to the faculty, fellow students, and my friends that I have made in Knoxville.  Thank you for your continued support and encouragement in my academic studies and making my time in Tennessee very fabulous.  I am looking forward to being part of the University of Louisville academic and professional community. 🙂

Best Wishes,

Karen
