It has indeed been a very busy and exciting week for me in terms of hearing if my conference papers have been accepted or not.  Earlier this week, I found out that I will be presenting three papers at the 14th International Conference on Corporate Reputation, Brand, Identity and Competitiveness in Rio de Janerio, Brazil. This morning, I found out that the paper I co-wrote was accepted at the NCA 96th Annual Convention in San Francisco, CA in November.  I am very excited about this wonderful news!

The paper that I worked on with Dr. Michael Palenchar and Dr. Shari Veil (University of Oklahoma) is titled “Social media bookmarking services:  Managing and sharing information from a centralized source.”  This paper focused on social bookmarking sites (Delicious in particular) and how people were sharing and managing information regarding the H1N1 crisis last year by posting articles, blog posts, YouTube videos, and Twitter updates on Delicious and sharing it with the online community.  It was a very interesting and rewarding project to be part of, and I am very honored to be presenting at the NCA Conference this year.  Plus – I also heard that our paper was named one of the top four papers in the Applied Communications Division for the Conference.  Woo hoo!  Super excited!

So, 2010 has been a very busy year for me so far in terms of presentations – the paper for NCA is going to be my eighth one for the year, and I still have a few more projects that I am working on – the year is young! 🙂  It has been wonderful going to conferences to listen to the latest in research and professional development in the public relations field, network with fellow researchers and graduate students, and continually learn about the field and generate new research ideas.  It’s all great!!

Hope you all are having a great day!

Best Wishes,

Karen
