Among both academics and public relations professionals, there is one current topic that is on everyone’s mind– and that is the economy. With the budget cuts and layoffs at corporations, people are worried about whether or not they can get a position in public relations. However, a recent study may provide more insight into this situation for researchers, practitioners, and students in public relations.
USC Annenberg Strategic Communication and PR Center (SCPRC) released today their research results on their survey on how the current economic times have impacted the public relations profession. Some of the main findings of the survey includes budget cuts within public relations departments, how it has affected how agencies can charge for their services to their clients, and the overall impact that the recession has had on the public relations field. The results from the survey are very interesting and gives public relations professionals and researchers an insight into how this is impacting PR.
