It is conference season! This is probably the busiest time of year for me when it comes to research and presentations since most of the ones I go to and present at are around the same time. Definitely earning the frequent flyer miles for sure! 🙂

I am currently in San Francisco with Mom for our presentation at the Association for Psychological Science (APS) Convention on doing research and teaching with Google Glass.

Our poster for #aps14sf

This has been more of an exploratory project for us – we are both explorers with Glass and are actively learning as well. We have used it both in the classroom and in teaching this past year, and it was fun to share our insights with others at the APS Convention. I was able to share with some of the attendees what I have done in the classroom at UofL with Glass as well as share some videos I have taken with Glass for guest lectures (like this one) and interviews about Glass.

In fact, we really didn’t have a lot of down time at all for taking pictures ourselves! I have never been at a poster session where I was getting talked to by 30+ people in a short time. We were actively sharing the Glass experience with others, allowing people to take selfies with Glass, and talking about potential research directions with Glass with fellow professors in the area of psychology.

Overall, Glass was a HUGE hit at APS. We are very excited to have the opportunity to share Glass with others and we are going to continue to work on our research and brainstorm more ways to use it in the classroom. This is just the beginning, which is very exciting for us.

We are going to be in SF for a few more days at the conference and will be attending and presenting at other sessions as well. APS and their team does such a great job promoting, engaging, and covering the area of psychology that makes it one of my favorite conferences to attend and present at.

Even though I’m coming in from a PR background, it’s one I strongly suggest my fellow colleagues in the field who are interested in transdisciplinary research and collaboration to submit to. Great scholars and colleagues here!

Hope you all are having a great day!

Best Wishes,
Karen
