It is very rewarding to have a former student succeed and do some amazing things in the profession after graduation. One of the things I wanted to do for my social media class this semester was bring back a student who has been through the class and share their experiences and what they are doing now.
Yesterday, not only did we have a UofL & #Freberg13 Alum, but we had a leading social media professional come and speak to our class yesterday. Very fabulous!
Lizelle Lauron, who was a #Freberg13 alum from my first social media class at the University of Louisville this past spring, is now the social media coordinator for the Dallas Mavericks. Lizelle was an excellent student in the social media class in the spring and was the team leader on the social media campaign proposal for UofL Athletics last year. She was driven and was motivated to work in social media and sports – and she has been able to do this very successfully after graduating from UofL in August.
Lizelle was gracious enough to spend an hour with my social media class yesterday to talk about her experiences, duties, and best practices for what she has learned during her time working in social media for the Dallas Mavericks. Here’s Lizelle’s Prezi that she showed my class yesterday.
My class really enjoyed Lizelle’s presentation, and several wrote blog posts about her talk. Maggie discussed inspiring it is to hear someone like Lizelle talk about their experiences and position and the amount of success she has had so far. Devin shared about how it is key to know what tools are important to use like Tweetdeck, which was one of the tools Lizelle shared with the class she uses for her job with the Dallas Mavericks. Alena talked in her post about what Lizelle discussed with the class about understanding the importance of analytics and how this is key for social media strategies for brands and clients.
Special thanks to Lizelle for a great talk and presentation! It is so rewarding to see our students succeed in the workplace and accomplish so much – really proud of you, Lizelle! #proudprof
Hope you all are having a great day!
Best Wishes,
Karen
