When I was in South Africa, one of the posts that I did was to talk about the must-dos that you would need to do if you got a chance to go and visit South Africa.  From going to Kruger National Park to climbing up Table Mountain– those were all musts for me!  However, when I was talking with my friends Ethel, Astrid, Anneke, Michelle, and Karin– they gave me some great suggestions on other places to go to get a real sense of what South Africa was about.

For example, I went with my roommate at the time Stephaney to Madame Zingara’s— which was a dinner / theatre show that was in Cape Town at the time when I was there.  It was absolutely amazing– great show and I remember having chocolate steak.  Yes… I had chocolate steak– I know that it sounds a bit off– but it was just absolutely divine!

Other things that we discovered as well as going to the wine country in Stellenbosch.  We went to two wineries and one had a cheetah place and we got to pet a live one– VERY COOL! 😀  It was also a lot of fun to learn about the cuisine in South Africa.  From South African wine (thanks again Karin for the two bottles of wine from your family’s farm!) to making bobotie to discovering Amarula (my parents use it now in everything that they cook!) 🙂  South African cuisine is fabulous and a foodie’s paradise!

Also, when I was in China to present at the Reputation Institute’s conference last year with Kristin — we did the same thing.  We made a list of places and things that we wanted to accomplish during our week long stay in Beijing.  We got to go up the Great Wall and also see the Ming Tombs– plus we got to see a Jade Museum and the Olympic facilities.  And how can I forget having Peking Duck?  I know– what can I say, I am a foodie! 😀

Now, I am preparing to do the same thing for my trip to Greece in June.  I will be in Athens to present at a research conference, and I will be there for a week.  I’m doing a lot of research at the moment on Greece.  I am right now studying the Greek language and trying to do as much research as possible on places and things to do while I am in Athens.  There are just so many things to see and do in Athens– from going to the Acropolis to the Panathenaic Stadium and the Temple of Poseidon– there is just so much history and culture to take in that you could spend a lifetime in Greece! And I can say with absolute confidence– there will of course be Greek foodie adventures! 😀 That is a given!

Hope you all are having a fabulous day!

Best Wishes,

Karen
