Here is what I am reading today:

“If you’re a regular LinkedIn user, you may have noticed that the company pages has underwent a significant redesign. Following the redesign of the main LinkedIn page and LinkedIn Today, the company pages has experienced the same facelift and have given them much needed vibrancy.

While there are obvious changes such as the introduction of a cover photo, other changes mightn’t be as obvious. So now that all page owners have had access to the new layout for a bit, it’s time to start finding out exactly what they have to offer.”

“Social media touches nearly every part of our lives these days. This is especially true in the workplace where a large percentage of workers rely on computers and the Web to complete their daily tasks. There seems to be an even split between employers who embrace social media and those who seek to clamp down on it and ban it completely. However, it is possible to have the best of both worlds, one where companies can have guidelines in place while your employees have freedom to express themselves…..”

“We’ve looked many times at the progress the corporate world is making in adapting a comprehensive social media strategy to raise visibility, connect with new customers and promote a company’s values and objectives. A new study out today shows that we haven’t made as much progress as we’d thought.”

The Department of Communication at the University of Louisville invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor with expertise in social media. The appointment will begin Fall Semester 2013, and candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in Communication or a related field prior to the starting date. The specific subfield within communication is open, but the successful candidate must demonstrate a record of continuing research productivity that includes the use of social media as a research topic. The candidate must also demonstrate a record of excellence in teaching. The instructional requirements for the position are consistent with those of a research institution, and the instructional assignments range from teaching undergraduate core courses (which all faculty teach) to developing and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, including courses in the candidate’s specialty. An interest in professional and institutional service is also required, and professional experience in a communication industry could be a plus.” (read more on link)
