Hello from Boston, MA!  That is right, I am at the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication Conference.  It has been an absolutely amazing experience.  I arrived on Tuesday, so I had a few days before presenting on Thursday.  It has been great to connect and meet up with fellow students and professors in the field of Public Relations, but also in other disciplines.  This is my first time at AEJMC – it is definitely a huge conference, which is very neat.

I attend the key note speaker session on Wednesday night, it was very neat.  Carol Simpson and her daughter Mallika Marshall discussed where the news and other disciplines involved in the media will be heading towards the future with the development and evolution of social media.  This brings up a great point – we need to address these issues and work together in solving this issue in this current economy and business environment.

What has been really neat about the conference is that I have been meeting up with people that I have met through Twitter and Facebook!  It has been very cool to finally get the chance to meet these professionals and fellow scholars in person! 🙂 Also, there have been several socials that I have been able to attend.  I first went to the USC Annenberg social at AEJMC – and it was just spectacular!  We were outdoors and we had music – and it was really great to talk to fellow scholars, USC professors, and alumni.  Fight on! 🙂  I also attended the PR Division Social that one of my professors at Tennessee hosted, Lisa Fall.  It was a lot of fun and great to talk to fellow students and professors in PR! 🙂 Congrats Lisa on a great turnout and fabulous social!

I have had the chance to meet up with fellow alumni and professors at the University of Southern California as well.  I was very excited to find out that Jerry Swerling, director of the Master’s PR Program at USC and a former professor of mine, was going to be at AEJMC.  It was great to catch up at the presentations and at the USC Social.  It was a pleasure to see you again Jerry and thank you for attending my presentation! 🙂

Anyway, I will be in Boston for a couple more days – I am very excited to see what other presentations and functions will be like at AEJMC.  So far, I would definitely recommend for fellow students and professors to attend AEJMC in the future – it is a wonderful conference with numerous insightful presentations, great scholars and researchers, and wonderful people. 🙂

Hope you all are having a great day!

Best Wishes,

Karen
