WOW! I made it! I am finally on Table Mountain!

I’m on top of the world!!!

I have finally done it!  I have done something that I have been wanting to do ever since I saw pictures of Cape Town from the States.  Yes, I went up Table Mountain this past weekend!  It was absolutely amazing!

I have finally done it!  I have done something that I have been wanting to do ever since I saw pictures of Cape Town from the States.  Yes, I went up Table Mountain this past weekend!  It was absolutely amazing! The day started off with my friend Ethel picking me up from the Waterfront, and then we started our adventure to Table Mountain.  We got to the Cable Car Station at the base of the mountain, and we purchased our tickets (R120 each, so about $20).  We got to ride the cable cars up to the mountain (each holds 65 people) and what was really neat was the fact that it rotates as it goes up!!!  I was like, whoa!  This is pretty neat!  And amazingly enough, they go pretty fast!  It only took us a few minutes to go up the mountain.

As soon as you get off the cable car, you are on top of Table Mountain!  There are many displays talking about the history and background of Table Mountain, as well as the plant and animal life on the mountain.

What is really neat too about the mountain are the rocks.  I told Dad that if he was here, he would want to bring some of the rocks back home with him! 🙂  I also think that Kristin would love the cliffs because of the rock-climbing opportunities! 🙂

I have to say that the views were absolutely breathtaking.  It was a clear, crisp winter day and you could see the entire city of Cape Town.  On the left of the mountain if you look down, you can see Camps Bay (a city right on the beach) and then off in the distance you can see Robben Island as well.  What is so great about Table Mountain is that you can bring a picnic lunch and spend the entire day up there!

I am so happy that I got a chance to go up Table Mountain.  It is most definitely a must do in Cape Town! 🙂

Have a wonderful day!

Best Wishes,

Karen 🙂
