This semester, I am the TA for the new Social Media class at the University of Tennessee (ADV 490: Special Topics – Social Media).  This class features both undergraduate and graduate students in advertising, public relations, and leadership programs.  We will be covering what exactly social media is, what are the different case studies that professionals have to be aware of, best practices in social media monitoring / research / and evaluation, and new emerging trends and technologies.

So far, I have been very impressed with the students and their creativity, strategic insights in advertising and public relations, and social media integration into their professional and personal personas.  One of the assignments for our class is to maintain a blog – which gives students an opportunity to showcase their writing skills, manage their online persona and reputation, and exploring the new emerging technologies that can be applied in various disciplines and professions like Advertising and Public Relations.  Here are the list of blogs that the students have created for the Social Media Class at Tennessee – some are veteran bloggers while others are blogging for the first time.  Every student has created a personalized, innovative, and fabulous blog – while each taking a unique perspective to showcase their personality, interests, and reputation to the online community of social media.

In my opinion – in just the first few weeks of this semester – I do believe that all these students are very cutting edge, innovative, and creative with their blogs and I am really looking forward to seeing more of their work throughout the semester! 🙂  Keep up the great work everyone! 🙂

Hope you all are having a wonderful day!

Best Wishes,

Karen
