In just a few weeks, I will be heading back to a place where I spent four wonderful years at as a PhD student.  I am going to be heading to Knoxville to attend and present at the upcoming SoSlam event.

I first went to SoSlam back in 2011 where I was taken away by all of the great insights, takeaway points, and case studies that were shared at the event. I walked away a few years ago with tons of knowledge about the emerging areas of social media and how it can be applied for all types of businesses and industries.  Mark Schaefer and the Social Media Club in Knoxville really do put together a great event.

Why SoSlam?  There are many reasons to come to such a great event.  It is a great event to learn from leaders across the US and even the world (Jeff Bullas is going to be at the event as well!) Plus, it is a great networking event for professionals, faculty members, students, and business professionals who are interested in the area of social media.  I have shared this information with professionals, students, and other faculty members even in Louisville.

I am very honored to be part of the panel with leading PR, social media, and crisis communication professionals Shonali Burke and Anne Gallaher, who will be leading our panel for SoSlam. Shonali wrote a great blog post about this and gearing up for the upcoming SoSlam event in Knoxville. We are going to talk all about crisis public relations and social media during this panel session.  From particular case studies to best practices to takeways, it is going to be a fun discussion with both Shonali and Anne.  What I like about this panel is the fact we are coming in from various backgrounds and perspectives, which really will bring a great discussion with SoSlam attendees and participants. I am looking forward to it.

If you do come to the event, make sure to introduce yourself!  I would love to meet you in person.  If not, make sure to follow the hashtag #soslam on Twitter to see what others are sharing via pictures, updates, videos, and more from the conference. 🙂

Hope you all are having a great day!

Best Wishes,

Karen
