I think that it is always fun to look back and remember what it was like to be a track and field athlete.  I definitely remember the fun throwing practices and weightlifting sessions that I had with Dad (aka “Coach Dad”), traveling to new locations and seeing different universities, and getting to go to some fantastic restaurants (I totally miss the Marketplace in Arkansas!)

Track really opened a lot of doors for me, and I am amazed that it has been two years since I was at USC during my last year of eligibility.  I had an amazing time at USC— great coaches, team mates, and support staff– it was an honor to be representing USC and be part of the Women of Troy.  Fight on! 🙂  I still follow USC and their track team, and I noticed that they have their new media guide out– and I was really surprised to see my picture in it!   Here is the link, and if you look on page 89– there I am!  It is definitely a motivating picture for me! 🙂  Yep, you can tell that I was a shot putter! 🙂

Anyway, it was fun to look at the media guide, and I wish everyone at USC the best of luck this outdoor season and Fight On always! 🙂

Best Wishes,

Karen 🙂

I remember those days. It was fun helping you by drawing those “Mascot Battle” animated GIFs for K-Mail. And weight lifting with you was always the best. I still remember myself doing a squat of 600 lbs and a shrug of 800 lbs back in 2003. Good year it was.
