I am very excited to be part of the great lineup of speakers for the upcoming social media conference SoSlam.  I had the chance to attend the very first conference back in 2011 as an attendee.  I just finished defending my dissertation at the University of Tennessee on social media and crisis communications, and I thoroughly enjoyed all of the presentations and speakers at the event. The UT Adv & PR Department gave me a nice shout out on their FB page as well – thanks so much! 🙂

Now, I am part of an amazing group of leading social and emerging media professionals who will be speaking at the conference in April.  I am excited to meet these professionals as well!  I follow several already online on Twitter, so it will be great to meet them in real life. 🙂

I will be part of the crisis communications panel at the upcoming SoSlam conference.  There are many cases we can look at from a crisis perspective from the last several years and even from what we have seen in 2013.  From Manti Teo to Lance Armstrong to KFC – all of these cases have unique qualities to them from a crisis perspective.  Growing issues related to analytics, micro message targeting within social media platforms, impact of visual storytelling, and future implications are just a few of the topics I hope to cover in this presentation along with some research I have done in several of these areas.

If you have a chance, I would strongly recommend registering for this event (have already shared this with my social media students in Louisville as well).  The topics for the event are pretty impressive and it will be a great networking event as well.

Let me know if you will be attending and would love to chat! Hope all is well and have a great day.

Best Wishes,

Karen
