readings in social media and pr for april 10th 2011

Convention Season is beginning and May looks to be very busy for me!

Here is what I am reading today:

“Mobile technology has, without a doubt, helped create deeper interactions between people and brands. It’s not always easy to get it right, but with mobile internet usage expected to outnumber desktop connections in the next few years, marketers can’t wait to craft mobile strategies. At today’s mobile discussion at the Ad Age Digital Conference, three mobile-technology innovators spoke about the lessons they’ve learned — and what that knowledge predicts for future mobile trends.”

“In what looks like a win-win for the advertiser and publisher, Callaway Golf has launched a promotion that lets users create their own banner ads to post on ESPN’s homepage.”

“Facebook is promoting the INQ Cloud Touch mobile handset with Sponsored Story home page ads leading to a new Showcase tab on the Facebook Mobile Page. Commonly referred to as “The Facebook Phone”, the INQ Cloud Touch recently became available for purchase in the UK. The Wildfire-powered Showcase tab highlights the device’s deep Facebook integration , such as how a user’s news feed and a button for Chat appear on the home screen.”

“As you know, infographics are visual representations of information, data, or knowledge. They present complex concepts quickly and clearly, and communicate ideas in an easily understandable fashion.”

“…If I had to generically define crisis response, I would suggest that it’s a process that focuses on providing help to those immediately impacted by a disaster while also disseminating emergency information to additional at-risk publics…”
