PowerPoint Presentation, notes, and documents for travel?
Check – got all those ready to go in multiple formats!
iPad and Laptop?
Got to make sure that I have all of my technology items together – technology gadgets are the latest accessory, and they are amazing tools as well!
Business suits with FABULOUS heels to match?
Of course! Wouldn’t leave home without them – got to look fabulous while presenting! Plus, it is part of my reputation as a PR/Social Media Researcher and Professional!
As you can see with this check list, I am finalizing just some of the things I will be bringing along with me for my latest trip. I am heading out to San Francisco for the National Communication Association (NCA) 96th Annual Convention to present my paper. The paper I worked on and submitted to the Applied Communications Division was titled “Social Media Bookmarking Services: Managing and sharing information from a centralized source.” I am presenting this paper tomorrow afternoon along with my advisor at Tennessee, Dr. Michael Palenchar, and Dr. Shari Veil from the University of Kentucky. We worked on this paper as part of the NCFPD grant and looked primarily at the H1N1 crisis and how information was shared and managed on one particular social bookmarking site, Delicious. It was a fun project to work on, and I am looking forward to presenting this to everyone tomorrow afternoon. This paper is considered to be one of the Top Four in the division – I am very excited about this! 🙂
This is my first NCA conference, so I am really excited about the whole NCA experience and networking opportunities. Plus, it is going to be great seeing some of my friends and colleagues at the conference and meet up again. Like AEJMC, there are a lot of different socials and gatherings where students and professors get together and discuss issues relevant to the field and network.
On a special note, I am also looking forward to seeing Mom and Dad up in San Francisco as well – we already have reservations to have dinner at our favorite Greek restaurant up there, and I am really excited to see Mom and Dad again! 🙂 Anyway, better be off to finalize my things to head on out to California – will be posting updates and sharing information on the conference from San Francisco – hope you all are having a wonderful and fabulous day!
Best Wishes,
Karen
