Save the date for PR Day 2010!  On November 12th, the School of Advertising and Public Relations at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville will be hosting PR Day 2010.  This is a great one-day seminar where leading professionals and researchers will be meeting and discussing current issues in public relations.  The theme this year is “Communicating Credibility: Challenges and Opportunities in Social media, Political, Health, and Crisis Communications.”  Merrie Spaeth with Spaeth Communications in Dallas, Texas will be the keynote speaker. Spaeth is a pioneer in communication theory and executive training. She has previously served as Director of Media Relations under President Ronald Reagan, a producer for ABC’s 20/20, and a writer/reporter for the Philadelphia Inquirer, the New York Daily News and many others will be at attendance.

PR Day 2010 will be a wonderful event for both students in public relations and professionals to come together and discuss current trends and issues in the field, and where PR is going for the future.  Online registration is now available through our Eventbrite website.  Early registration will be up and available until November 5th at 5 pm.  One of the duties that I have done for PR Day 2010 has been to set up a few things related to social media for the PR Day event.  First, we have our Tumblr site where people before and during the event can write blog posts, post pictures and videos, and share their experiences and thoughts about PR Day 2010 with the online community.  We have also created a QR code for PR Day 2010 as well, so you can check out the information about the event with your smartphone. 🙂

In addition to setting up online registration for PR Day 2010, creating the official website and the QR Code for PR Day 2010, we also have an official hashtag for the event for professionals and students who want to share their insights on the event.  The official hashtag for PR Day 2010 is #prday10.
