I had posted a few months ago about Tour de France winner Floyd Landis testing positive for testosterone last summer. Well, Landis had follow-up tests conducted to prove his innocence, but they are also positive. What I find amazing is that even though both samples have tested positive, instead of taking the responsibility for his actions– Landis blames USADA, or the United States Anti-Doping Agency. According to an article on SportingLife.com article, Landis said the following about USADA’s actions in this investigation: “This is yet another in a series of malicious actions by USADA that tramples my right to have my case heard in a fair and just way.” Hmmm– I don’t think that is the best move to make.

I believe that Landis right now is struggling and has become a PR nightmare. During the first crisis, he denies using performance enhancing drugs and claims that he is innocent. Now, his “B” samples test positive as well for testosterone, and it is not the natural kind. In my opinion, I believe that Landis should lose his title as Tour de France winner and realize that this crisis has impacted his athletic reputation in a very negative way.
