I have to say that my family are all complete and total foodies. Everyone that we know keeps telling us that in one way or another, we always seem to drift on the subject of food! What can I say? When you are on a diet like Jenny Craig, you do want to talk about food because you are either really, really, REALLY hungry, or you appreciate the finer things that food can offer! π
There are many different cookbooks out there available for people to buy, but there are some cookbooks that are better than others. You can really tell a person by what they eat and cook. Are they the type of person that thinks that cooking is pressing a little button on a microwave and waiting a couple of minutes to take off the wrapper? This is NOT cooking! I am shocked whenever I hear people that say that they do not know how to cook! It’s like, why not?? It’s not only a fun activity, but you get to see what is being put into your meal and you can also add your personal flavor to a recipe to make it your own. π
Or are they the type of person that researches, discovers, and develops their own perspective of a classic recipe that is so good that you think you are in heaven? My family and I would be placed in the second group, which makes us complete and total foodies. π Dad has really done an amazing job with his recipes– from beef stroganoff to eclairs— they are all absolutely fantastic! Mom is known for her great mushroom cookies and Amarula Carrot Cake. Kristin is also a fabulous cook and makes superb cookies. π
Me? I am just the grasshopper! π But Karla was really sweet and got me the best cookbook ever! The Epicurian is a cookbook from the chef from the famous Delmonico restaurant, Charles Ranhofer, back in the 1860-90’s. It has everything for the total foodie from wonderful classic recipes to formal dining etiquette to decorations. This is great for me as a PR professional because one skill we have to have is presentation and event planning. Thank you Karla for getting me this wonderful gift! π
So in conclusion, if you look at what my family cooks– you can tell a lot about us. We are all on Jenny Craig to be healthy, but once a week we have special meals, and when we make these meals– we go all out! π We look for the best quality ingredients, research and experiment with recipes, and spend a lot of time preparing the meals. Cooking gives you an insight into people’s characteristics and values. π
I hope you all are having a great day! π Happy Cooking and Bon Appetite! π
Best Wishes,
Karen π
