The key to a great travel experience is developing a great checklist! When I was young and our family planned a trip large or small we all got together and studied everything we could find. When we were planning our first trip to Australia, we discovered very quickly that New Zealand and Tasmania were must see parts of our visit!
My checklists are more than a list of things to bring. I usually have a folder (and one in my laptop) that contains everything I need to know and may need for my trip.
Some on the list are obvious: visa and passport, tickets, hotel reservations, cell phone with appropriate chip for country being visited, business cards , camera, clothes and a few ‘gifts’ to thank people you might meet on the way.
Other things I like to have included in my package: prepaid tours, guides, lists of interesting sites and restaurants and a reliable book or two on the area and people I am visiting. It’s also fun if I can talk a friend or family member to join me!
Oh yes, I even have my presentation ready!
