I have posted many times on how some well-known athletes and sports celebrities seem to always try to “spin” their way out of a crisis situation.  These individuals are what I like to call “PR Nightmares.”  Whether it is somewhat true or not, they always seem to be entertaining.  I have found this interesting article that appeared online where the author talks about the different excuses current athletes have given about testing positive or why they are in trouble.  From Roger Clemens saying that he did indeed get injections, but of course not with anything related to steroids, and then you go from a discus thrower saying it was infected pig meat!  What is all that about?

What are these people thinking?  Honesty is indeed the best policy!  These are absolutely PR Nightmares in athletics!!!  What happened to telling the public the truth and saying “Oops– my bad, I did this or this and I apologize for it.”  It seems that people think that it is okay to deny everything and it might go away.  What people need to realize that they can say whatever they want, but it really isn’t going to change other’s perceptions of you in the long run.

These athletes made damaging mistakes to their reputation and overall image, and they have to face the consequences.  It’s best to be transparent and honest– because if they keep making these elaborate excuses over and over again– it is only going to hurt them more.  These are just a few of my thoughts. 🙂

I hope you all are having a great day! 🙂

Best Wishes,

Karen 🙂
