Halo!

Welkom toe die Freberg Familie Braii!

Food– such a wonderful thing! πŸ™‚ I have always loved food, especially REALLY fab food! Cooking and eating it– I love it all! I guess you can consider me a “foodie” and super taster! πŸ™‚ I can tell you that my taste buds felt they were partying up this Saturday. Why? Well, my family and I fixed a traditional South African meal– filled with tons and tons of WONDERFUL food! Here are some pictures from our family braii meal!

I really felt that I learned a lot from eating and experiencing the wonderful cuisine in South Africa– all of the food that I had was absolutely amazing! From biltong to sosaties (kebabs) to carrot cake– I enjoyed it all! Before I talk about what we did yesterday, I have to thank the two wonderful chefs of the meal– Mom and Dad! (Clap your hands!) πŸ™‚ They really made a wonderful and authentic South African meal!! πŸ™‚ I enjoyed it SO much! πŸ™‚ I hope that Jenny understands… πŸ™‚

For our meal, we had a variety to choose from! Our appetizers consisted of pheasant and linguisa sausages– Dad bbqued them on our Weber Grill, and they were absolutely amazing! I lost count on how much I ate! πŸ™‚ For our main meal, we had kebabs. Most of the meals that I had in South Africa were kebabs with game meat or steak– and they were fantastic! We had elk, lamb, steak, and buffalo for our kebabs. Don’t worry, we didn’t just have meat, :)– we also had mushrooms, onions, pineapple, and peppers as well. Yummy! πŸ™‚

For the meal, Mom made a tomato, onion, and egg salad– it was really good! The recipe came from the “Rainbow Cuisine” cookbook by Lannice Snyman– fab! πŸ™‚ For our side dishes, we also had corn on the cob along with some wild & yellow rice. Again FAB! πŸ™‚ Also, Dad made some really neat shrimp curry to go along with the rice– double yum! πŸ™‚

For dessert– Mom made the BEST carrot cake ever!!! But this is not just any ordinary carrot cake, but it had Amarula in it! My taste buds were going out of control– it was so amazing! I could taste each of the different ingredients– but if I had to sum it all up– WOW!!!!! I told Mom that her carrot cake and Dad’s turducken will be the classic Freberg Family holiday meal from now on! πŸ™‚

After our lovely cuisine adventure, I realized quickly how my eating habits have changed since I have been on Jenny Craig. I really enjoyed my braii meal, and it was really a special treat! I had planned for this meal for the past couple of weeks, and I know that the scale this week might show that I might have enjoyed myself too much from the meal! πŸ™‚ But, I do appreciate food more and these special occasions! πŸ™‚

I am really glad that I have been on Jenny Craig these past nine months!:) (Below is a picture of me making some of the kebabs, with my SA Rugby Shirt– 60 lbs and still going on strong!) πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

Best Wishes,

Karen
