What better way to celebrate Christmas Eve by starting new family traditions?  We have always done a lot of cooking before Christmas, and this year was no different.  Today, we made our peanut butter and chocolate cheesecake (absolutely no calories in it whatsoever and I know that JC will completely understand!).  We also started another tradition:  a shot put throwing contest.  It’s been about two and a half years since I have thrown the shot put.  A lot has happened since then, including some discoveries that I made during our outing today.

Here I am practicing at Laguna Middle School

Here I am practicing at Laguna Middle School

  • First, I realized that losing 90 plus pounds (aka my “throwing weight”) definitely makes a difference
  • Second, the 4k shot put definitely feels different than before
  • And last but not least– I have a whole new respect and appreciation to what I did in the ten years I was in track. 🙂

It was fun to throw again in the shot ring with Mom, Dad, and Karla.  We had our family shot put contest at Laguna Middle School in SLO.   I spent many hours with Dad working out there — Laguna Middle School has the best shot put rings in SLO by far.  It brought back many wonderful memories of working out with Dad.  I am not sure how many hours we spent throwing against the handball courts, running around the track, or throwing in the ring– but it was a lot.  We had a blast today, and I am positive that this will be a new Freberg family tradition.

I hope you all are having a wonderful time with your friends and family for the holidays, and I wish you all a happy and Merry Christmas! 🙂

Best Wishes,

Karen
