Here are my readings for today:
“On Friday we reported about the #BeatCancer campaign to leverage social media for cancer charities. Their goal was to set a Guinness World Record for the most social mentions in 24 hours, which by Saturday had already topped 200,000 on Twitter, Facebook and blog posts.”
“Rumors swirled recently that the iPhone was coming to Verizon. Social media outlets quickly garbled up the leaks, and opinions flared across the Web about the news. For companies and marketers, that information is incredibly valuable, but seriously hard to track. How can opinion on Facebook and Twitter ever be accurately measured? Enter Crimson Hexagon, a social media monitoring and analysis firm that has helped Microsoft, HP, and CNN gauge public perception”
“Starbucks has seen sufficient success with its Starbucks Card Mobile payment pilot program in select San Francisco, Seattle and Target stores that its ready to extend the program to nearly 300 company-operated stores in New York City and Long Island. Starbucks Card Mobile for iPhone() and BlackBerry() lets users pay for their coffee by holding up the 2-D barcode on their smartphone to the scanner at the counter. The application allows customers to manage and reload their Starbucks Cards as well.”
“How do people decide how much to spend on purchases for themselves versus others? A new study in the Journal of Consumer Research says it all depends on how powerful we feel at the moment of choice.”
