Tornado Disaster Reporting via Social Media in Alabama!

Here are some of the stories I am readng today:

“Tornadoes are wreaking havoc across the South again tonight, and according to TV station ABC 33/40, dozens of people have died so far. Social media and technology is helping to spread the word, perhaps saving many more lives. Check out the dramatic video above as a tornado slammed into Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where you can easily sense the fear in the shallow breaths of the videographer.”

“At the end of the film The Social Network, Mark Zuckerberg approaches the ex-girlfriend whom, earlier in the film, he had dragged through the mud online. He wasn’t getting her back, of course. As she put it: “The Internet isn’t written in pencil, Mark. It’s written in ink.”

But what if that could change?”

“Attendees also were treated to complimentary coffee and soft drinks and could attend a free seminar about using social media for job searches, presented by the chamber’s Employment Outreach initiative.”

“The future of social bookmarking service Delicious is no longer in doubt. Yahoo has sold the site to YouTube founders Chad Hurley and Steve Chen, who will fold it into a new company they have created called AVOS.”
