The RI Conference here in Rio de Janeiro was indeed a huge success in my opinion – this was a wonderful conference to attend as well as present in.  The entire conference was three days long, and it was jammed packed with some great plenary and breakout sessions.  There have been many highlights for me during the Reputation Institute Conference, but I thought that I would share with you all a few that I thought really made the conference this year a fabulous one:

Listening to Charles Fombrun’s speech on reputation and crisis: I had the pleasure of meeting and getting a picture with Dr. Fombrun last year in Amsterdam, and he is indeed the leading expert in reputation management.  His presentation on how corporations like Toyota, Domino’s, and Goldman Sachs are really good cases to look at what not to do in a crisis situation and managing your reputation.  Dr. Fombrun’s presentation was both insightful and a great learning experience!

Online reputation management with Barbara Gibson:  This presentation was absolutely fabulous!  I thought that Barbara hit on all of the main points in regards to social media and what corporations need to do now in order to be proactive in handling their reputation with their stakeholders.  I was very pleased with this presentation – Barbara’s points were insightful, clear, and she provided some excellent best practice suggestions.

Media and reputation management with Dr. Craig Carroll:  Not only did a get a chance to meet some new friends at the Reputation Institute, but I also got a chance to meet up with some old friends, including Dr. Craig Carroll.  I took two courses with Dr. Carroll while I was at USC (Research Methods and Corporate Reputation Management), and he was the first person to introduce me into Reputation Management.  Dr. Carroll’s presentation was very good and interesting on how reputation management is framed in the media.

Tweeting #ririo:  This really got the conference engaged with social media and share what was going on with the conference in real time with others around the world.  It was fun to see people with their laptops updating their tweets via Tweetdeck and other social media networking sites.  In addition, it was really neat to do this on my new iPad – the first of many conferences that I will probably do this in! 🙂

I am looking forward to attending the next RI Conference in New Orleans next year!  Hope you all are having a wonderful day!

Best Wishes,

Karen
