I have to say that whenever I tell people that I am from San Luis Obispo, California– people usually are like, “Where is that exactly?” This only happens when I am in the USA. Since I have been in South Africa, I tell people that I am from California.
Mom and I taking a walk in San Luis Obispo, California
Today at my work at Total Media, I had the opportunity to sit in on a meeting with a representative from Media 24, who owns a lot of the major magazines in South Africa (Elle, Fairlady, etc.) So– I was introduced as a public relations intern from the United States, and she asked me, “which part of the US?” I said, “California,” and from a really small town– and she asked “San Luis Obispo?” I was REALLY surprised! She said that she actually traveled through SLO.
You would think that after flying 20 hours, across a very big ocean, that you wouldn’t meet someone that has visited a small town like San Luis. But — as I remember — this happened to me when our family went to Tazmania –amazing how people really do travel!!! 🙂
It is indeed a small world.
Have a great day!
Best Wishes,
Karen 🙂
