I believe that you can tell a lot about a place by the common activities that we do everyday. From eating to shopping– to going to the movies! That is what I did on Sunday– I went to see the new Pirates movie (which was fantastic– even though I think that they may do a 4th one..) But I have to say that it was interesting going to the movies in SA.
First, it is cheaper to go to the movies in SA than in the US. Secondly, as soon as you pay, they give you an assigned seat. I was like, okay! I walked into the movie theater and it was HUGE!! Way bigger than in the US by far. They really didn’t have many previews before the movie, but a lot of PSAs about global issues in Africa– which I thought that was interesting. During the movie, everyone was laughing a lot at all the normal places, and of course just got crazy when Keith Richards showed up in the movie. 🙂 Very neat!
It was a great experience, and it gave me a little more insight into the people of South Africa. In order to really understand people, PR people really need to see where people shop, eat, and their hobbies / outings. It’s just part of the job! 🙂
