We have heard many stories about Facebook and what people do on the site. Some use it as a social networking tool to talk with friends while others post some interesting pictures of themselves. But do people know that even though their activities might be watched and tracked by Facebook? An article that appeared in Yale Daily News said that Facebook sometimes would track Facebook participant’s activities– even after they logged off the site.
What does this mean for the Facebook site? Well, this is a lesson for everyone to realize that they need to be aware that their activities may seem private– they are not. It is important to also realize that anyone can view the information about you online– so people need to be careful on what they post or say online– it could come back at you. People have to protect themselves and their personal brand. It will be interesting to see what happens in this situation, because this is indeed a PR Nightmare for Facebook.
