My English and Chinese Business Cards
Public Relations is such a fascinating subject that incorporates many different areas.

Many people realize the importance of protocol and etiquette in the international arena. We strive to communicate our message clearly and precisely with the desired result. Obviously, mistakes can and do happen and it becomes our job to address those slips as well.

Business cards are a clear first step in gaining respect and trust from those with whom you hope to be working. In China, a double sided card, one side in English and the other in Simplified Chinese.

We had fun looking up my name in Chinese. After all, making our names easy for others is the first key to developing understanding. My Chinese name is beautiful, it is “Kai-lin”. One small problem with the ‘k’ sound is that there are alternative ways to begin a name… it was recommended to me that I avoid the ‘k’ sound that is associated with ‘kill.’ Obviously, that was a good suggestion.

So in May, armed with my new cards, I will be presenting at the 12th international Conference on Corporate reputation!

Good Public Relations starts with many small steps. Your business Card is one of them!
