the fabulous evening at Forty Ate! the best!

I think that there are many things that can be classified as fashionable.  Of course there are clothes and fragrances, but why not food? A meal’s visual presentation and taste can be true works of art.

I had fun at Forty Ate

Our intern group wanted to do something really special and I suggested the restaurant Forty Ate  in the heart of downtown Cape Town.  No one left unimpressed or disappointed — we had a wonderful time!

The reason that it is called Forty Ate is because it is located at 48 Hout Street. 🙂  From the outside, you can see that you are entering the sophisticated world of food and luxury.  We were greeted by our hostess, and she was very accommodating. The first floor is the lounge / bar area. Stephaney and I arrived on the early side, so we kept busy tasting the various flavours of pretzels that were provided.

Shortly thereafter, Stephaney, Ryan, Daryl, Jackie, and I all headed to the second floor lounge.  Can I say– fantastic??!!  I was very excited because I saw the chef at the Cape Town Good Food & Wine Show last week. This was a “Last Holiday” experience for me and I felt just like Queen Latifa!

We were presented with our menus, and I decided to go with the Winter Taster selection — “tout de suite, baby!” — it is a three course meal, but in small portions.  I had the tomato soup with Norwegian salmon (quite tasty), lamb chops and mashed potatoes (divine!!!) and a brownie with peanut and coffee ice cream (my first dessert in SA– beyond words!) It was absolutely amazing– my taste buds were going CRAZY!!!  It was so unique and original– it was an experience that I will always remember.  What a way to end the day! 🙂

The service that we got was also fantastic– all of the waiters were really accommodating and helpful. The food was a unique and truly wonderful experience.

I think my pictorial essay says it all with smiles galore!

Thank you “Forty Ate”!

Best Wishes,

Karen 🙂
