During my internship at Total Media, I was assigned to work on various fashion and consumer accounts. When I wasn’t working with fashion weeks or designers, I would be researching and helping out on TM’s consumer accounts. One of the accounts that I worked on was Amarula. Fab!, darling!
Amarula is a cream liqueor brand in Africa– you can’t miss their bottle because it has their logo along with a large picture of an elephant! One of the main ingredients of Amarula is the marula fruit, which elephants love to have! I had my first taste of Amarula in South Africa, and I don’t necessarily drink– but I was like, WOW! This is really good! 🙂 What is also really neat about Amarula is the fact that you can use it in many recipes (check out their food recipe web site). So many great food, so little time! 🙂
Since I have been back from South Africa, I told Dad about Amarula, and he got really excited about it. So, we all headed to BevMo!, and we found some Amarula! I was really happy and Dad and Mom were VERY excited! We had some and Dad agreed that it was so fantastic that he could have this everyday!! 🙂
When our class was at Kruger National Park, our tour guide wanted us to do the “Amarula Dance.” It was pretty cool, and I have included a picture of my classmates Lilly, Noah, and Jaclyn all doing it with our tour guide Ismael. Good times! 🙂
So, I would either go online or head to BevMo to get some Amarula– it is absolutely fantastic and gives you an insight into African gourmet cuisine. It is a must have food & cuisine experience!!! 🙂
I hope that you all have a great day!
Best Wishes,
Karen 🙂

[…] So, Karen searched the Amarula site , as in many South African wine and drink sites found some wonderful recipes. In particular, she found a carrot cake recipe that is very similar to one we all are very fond of… but with Amarula Cream. So we are adapting our recipe to accommodate… we’ll let you know how it goes! […]
