Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone! I hope you all had a great time celebrating yesterday. I had a great time with my family, and it is times like this where I feel being all together in one place really is special.

We all have enjoyed the holidays with some amazing food and experiences. We have had some amazing meals throughout the holidays, but it is the time spent with my immediate family that really meant the most to me.

It’s been a luxury for all of us to get together since there have been many Christmases where we have not been able to do so. Kristin missed several due to serving abroad in her two tours in Iraq, and we have had Scott join us these last couple of years, so it’s truly been a merry and joyful holiday with the family.

We have also enjoyed spending time with our furry family members as well. My Dad got a beautiful Australian Shepherd this summer named Ronnie – who has really been a great addition to the Freberg family. She’s quite the puppy and we all love her dearly.

Of course, along with eating fabulous food and enjoying family time, I have been working as well. Finalizing grades at the beginning of the break to working on various projects and ideas for the upcoming year for research and preparing for Spring 2014 classes – the work of a professor continues. 🙂 However, I wouldn’t have it any other way! I

n many ways, I have treated my work as a professor like I did as a track and field athlete. I did a little bit of work on various things every day, and yes – I even did work a bit yesterday for Christmas (in between the fabulous meals we had).  Was it like my major research and work days I have had over the break? No, but it was a little progress towards several of my goals – and that is key. It’s all about doing a little bit each day – which will pay off.

In summary, the holidays at home with my family have been truly special and wonderful. I’ve had time to relax and make new memories with my family with new experiences to be shared both offline and online (what can I say, we are a social media family!). It’s key to take these breaks and celebrate as a family during the holidays. I wish you all a wonderful Christmas holiday and here’s to an amazing 2014!

Best Wishes,

Karen
