A Major Hingis Boo-Boo!I am amazed that there are some athletes out there that will deny anything even though there is clear evidence that they are either involved in a situation or guilty.  An example of this is tennis player Martina Hingis.  This week, it was reported the Hingis tested positive for cocaine and then immediately retired from the sport of tennis. Hingis made the following statement to the media regarding this situation:

“I am frustrated and angry.  I believe that I am absolutely, 100 percent innocent.”

Looking at this statement– I have two words for Martina about handling this situation, and it is Floyd Landis.  Landis did the same thing when it was discovered that he tested positive for testosterone during the 2006 Tour de France.  Another example of athlete denial is Marion Jones, and she only recently has admitted that she used steroids before the 2000 Olympics.

What is going on?  Do these athletes believe that if they keep denying their involvement in the crisis that it will go away?  The answer is no– the important thing here is to be honest with everyone– honesty is the best policy!  The more they deny, the bigger and deeper the hole they are digging themselves into.  It’s their own personal reputation that is going to be impacted.  These athletes have to realize that they will not be remembered for their athletic accomplishments, but for their involvement with these negative crises.

Anyway, I hope that all is going well and have a great day!

Best Wishes,

Karen 🙂
