Here are my readings for today:
“Online chatter about tech and gadgets has seen a definitive increase coinciding with the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show, which began this week in Las Vegas. Tech manufacturers, products and the convention itself are receiving mostly positive or neutral buzz. Overall CES sentiment has been 43% positive, 14% negative and 43% neutral, according to statistics from Fabric Media, which analyzed 20 CES-related terms across four data sets that included news, blogs, search and microblogs.”
“Forrester Research has published a revised forecast for the U.S. consumer tablet market today, noting that its initial predictions from last year were “too conservative.” Indeed, Apple’s introduction of the iPad changed the game, so to speak, for tablet adoption, and many people are predicting 2011 – or least CES – to be replete with tablet-related announcements.”
“he internet is slowly closing in on television as Americans’ main source of national and international news. Currently, 41% say they get most of their news about national and international news from the internet, which is little changed over the past two years but up 17 points since 2007. Television remains the most widely used source for national and international news – 66% of Americans say it is their main source of news – but that is down from 74% three years ago and 82% as recently as 2002.”
“I am fascinated by Xtranormal. This company is pioneering one of the most remarkable trends in peer production: social entertainment. Xtranormal is service that allows anyone to create an animated short. You choose the characters and the setting from a limited selection of scenes, and then you write the dialog.”
