One thing that I have absolutely loved about LA is the fact that there are SO many sport events to attend! You have USC (and I guess that “other school” :D), the LA Kings, the LA Clippers, the Dodgers, and the Lakers. For my Sports PR class, we got to go to the Lakers-Sonics game at the Staples Center on Sunday. After getting a tour of the Staples facilities and press sections, we got to sit in the media press booth at the Staple Center, and let’s just say that it is pretty cool! The Lakers won the game 109-98, and Kobe Bryant scored 50 points. He made it look really easy!
After the game, we got to sit in on Phil Jackson’s press conference. Whoa– I was like 15 feet away from him, and it was just amazing to be there and write down his quotes like a real public relations professional. I have to say that it was a GREAT experience for me– for someone that wants to go into Sports PR– it was amazing!!!
