A few days ago, the U.S. Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association, or USTFCCA, announced their Academic All-Academic Teams for track and field.  According to their web site, “an athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher and must have met the NCAA Division I regional or national qualifying standard in his event.”

After looking at the list of athletes and teams, there is one school that is missing–the  University of Southern California.  I felt that this was interesting because the men’s track team has the highest GPA at USC and many of the athletes on the women’s team were on the Pac-10 Academic team.  Many of the athletes are going to study abroad and are in honors classes as well– so… what is going on with USTFCCA?

The question I have is for USTFCCA– was this just a mistake, or was this on purpose?  We will see what happens. 🙂
