It’s a great to be a Trojan!

This past Sunday, the USC Track and Field hosted their annual track and field banquet. Needless to say, it was absolutely fantastic! Everyone looked amazing, and the food was divine. For someone that has been on Jenny Craig for four months and the only thing that is used to cook food is a microwave– it was heavenly! We had a salad, some chicken and mashed potatoes, and.. a cookies and cream cheesecake! Was it a Jenny Craig sliver? NOPE! 🙂 But– I am back to the plan! 🙂

Track and Field photographer Kirby Lee was there and took some great pictures of the awards and the athletes. Thanks Kirby– the pictures look great! 🙂

There were a lot of awards that were given out. From excelling in the classroom to coach’s awards to most valuable, it was great to celebrate the achievements made of the team last year. I received the “Come Through” Award along with fellow hammer thrower and Olympian Eva Orban, All-American 800 meter runner Duane Soloman, and West Regional champion Gary Jones. I felt so honored to be honored among these amazing athletes. I got this award because of what I did at the USC/UCLA dual meet.

I have to thank all of the coaches at USC for all of their support– they really made me feel welcome and part of the USC Track and Field Family. Being part of such a great team was such a wonderful experience, and I will always remember it. Thank you Coach Ron Allice, Coach Dan Lange, Coach Tina Fernandes, Coach Tommy White, Coach Mike Pullins, Coach John Johnson, and Coach Tom Walsh. I also have to thank Gwen Clementin, Coach Allice’s assistant. She works so hard to make sure that everything is in order! 🙂 Thanks!

I also have to thank my teammates— they are so great! I had so much fun hanging out with them on trips and practices and dinners. Thanks for the memories! I also have to thank those in the USC training room for making sure that they kept me healthy to throw that little 8 lb ball and those in our student-academic center. Thank you! 🙂

Last but not least– I have to thank my parents, Roger and Laura, and my two wonderful sisters, Kristin and Karla. They were with me all the way in my track career and were always there for me. I love you all so very much.

Have a great day!

Best Wishes,

Karen
