Excitement.
Suspense.
Drama.
Anticipation.
Come-through performances.

These are just some of the words to describe one athletic event. That’s right– I am talking about THE track meet of the year, the USC vs. UCLA dual meet. It’s too bad that there are not more dual meets like this– there is nothing like a meet between two teams that are long time rivals. I have to say that I was a lot more relaxed today than I was this time last year! 🙂

Today, the USC team prevailed against the UCLA Bruins– there were so many great performances today by the Trojans. Congratulations Coach Allice, Coach Lange, and the rest of the USC Track and Field Coaches for a great job today!!! 🙂 FIGHT ON!

I got to see first hand something absolutely amazing in the men’s javelin. Our javelin thrower, Stenn Parton, was ranked second to last coming in– and improved his PR by 8 meters. That’s right– EIGHT METERS— and he won!!!!!!!! Congratulations Stenn, I think that I know who will be getting the “Come Through Performance” Award at the USC Track and Field Banquest next year! 🙂 This is what is so great about this meet is having athletes step up to the plate and do what is necessary for the team. My dad always said that the first question that people ask you when they find out that you were a track and field athlete at UCLA or USC is: Well, did you win your event at the USC/UCLA Dual Meet?

In many ways, this meet is bigger and more intense than any meet during the track and field season! I enjoyed being a part of it last year, and again this year as a track and field fan! 🙂

Adam improved his PR and won the hammer, while Eva, Julia, and Allie scored 9 points for the Trojans in the hammer. Noah won the shot at 67’5″ and broke the USC School record. For the women, Andrea and Eva also threw the shot, and both PRed and scored 4 points for the Trojans! Way to go ladies! 🙂

The Women of Troy lost to the Bruins, :(, but the Men of Troy came through and won the dual meet!!!!
Congratulations to all of the athletes and coaches– and thank you to the friends, family, and USC track fans for coming out to support the athletes!

FIGHT ON!!!! 🙂
