Many times, when we turn on the television to watch a football game, we get to see athletes play and try to outscore the other team. But sometimes the camera focuses on the football coaches, and how they interact with their players and the rest of the football staff. Some are nice, some are not-so-nice, and then there are those that you really can’t tell.

At both of my universities (Florida and USC), I got a chance to meet the football coaches. At USC, I got to meet Pete Carroll, and at Florida, I got to meet Ron Zook. 🙂
While at Florida, Zook was known as a player’s coach because he really cared about his athletes. He was energetic and personable, and I remember he would stop by in the weightroom and ask how we were doing in track and field, and to say hi. Pretty neat! Zook won some amazing games at Florida, and I was really sad when he left. 🙁 But I am happy to see him do really well at Illinois— they have won a lot of games and have a great recruiting class as well!

Anyway, if athletics had more coaches like Ron Zook and Pete Carroll, it will all be good! They are truly there for the athletes and they make sure that their athletes also have fun in the process!

Have a great day!

Best Wishes,

Karen
