For Public Relations professionals, we have to stay ahead of the game when it comes to new technology. In order to be current, PR professionals have to look towards the future and see what are the new trends are way in advance. We have to adapt to make sure that we get our key messages out to our audiences in the right medium. This process is ever changing– from email to the Internet, and now to virtual reality web sites.

With these virtual reality web sites, people are able to communicate with each other and even conduct business deals. It is also a new way to separate yourself from your competition and provide people with even more information. One of up and coming web sites that has emerged has been Second Life.

According to their web site, Second Life is “s a 3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its residents.” You can also go to their most frequently asked questions web site to find out more about their site and the services that they offer. One area that has adapted to virtual realities has been education, where professors have uploaded videos of their class for others to view on the web site.
It will be interesting to see the development of this new medium for the public relations field. 🙂
