My Christmas holiday break has been very relaxing and I do feel completely and totally spoiled by having such an amazing family.  Mom, Dad, Kristin, and Karla have all made me feel right at home and we have definitely kept ourselves busy doing many things.  From having Greek Night with Greek music, moussaka, baklava, and many other fabulous foodie items, to having a very special Christmas day to doing various traditional Freberg activities.

However, my break has also been pretty productive.  I am currently in the process of preparing for my comprehensive exams for the doctoral program, which I will be taking in February.  Once I complete those, then I will have to do my oral defense and present my dissertation proposal.  In addition, I will also be teaching PR Cases this upcoming semester as well, so I have been working on getting my syllabus for that.  What is exciting is that I am going to be introducing a few new topics into the class and present new case studies.  I know that I am going to have to redo my social media and public relations presentation since it will look out of date by the time April comes along! 🙂

Besides preparing for my Spring class, I have also finished my online class in Public Relations for the IMC program.  This was the first online class that I have taught, and it has been such a wonderful experience.  I am currently working on calculating my final grades, and my Spring class will be starting around the same time as my PR class at UT.  My students this semester have been fantastic – they were very strategic and innovative in their assignments and discussion – and I know that each of them will do great and wonderful things in their future classes and in their job.  I have really enjoyed being part of the IMC program at WVU – I had my first online faculty meeting a few weeks ago, and it was great chatting with everyone – it has been a pleasure to be part of this great group of IMC professionals. 🙂

Besides working on teaching and studying for comps, I have also been working on various research projects for the upcoming year.  Yes, school may be out, but there is always fabulous work to be done! 🙂  It is all good – it’s fun! 🙂

I hope that you all are having a great day and happy holidays!

Best Wishes,

Karen
