Taking some time out to enjoy the hot California weather!

It’s been a couple of weeks since I have returned from South Africa, and this is one benefit of being on summer break!  Well– at least for a couple of more days! 🙂  An important lesson that my parents have taught Kristin, Karla, and I since we were children is the fact that if you work hard today, your future will be a lot easier for you.  I really appreciated what my parents did– they wanted us to succeed in whatever we did, and they supported us.

I have had several conversations with people asking me why I am going on for my Ph.D.  I have told them that when I was growing up, it was a given that I would get a bachelor’s degree– but after getting a Master’s– would I go on for a MD or an MBA, or a Ph.D.  I always knew that I wanted to go on with my education, and so that is why I started applying for schools last year.  And just in a couple of days, I will be heading off to the University of Tennessee to begin my Ph.D.  I am really excited! 🙂 Which reminds me…. I better go back and finish my homework for my orientation! 🙂

So the key to this post is this:  Work hard today, keep your eye on the prize, and it will pay off down the road! 🙂

Have a great day!

Best Wishes,

Karen 🙂
