Happy Veteran’s Day!
Today is a day that we celebrate those that have served, or currently serving, in the armed forces and protecting our freedoms and way of life in our country. However, I believe that we need to thank these individuals for their bravery and courage ever chance that we can and every day. I have so much respect for the military and the men and women that serve our country. One of my role models and heroes is my older sister, Kristin. Kristin is a 2001 graduate of West Point, and has recently returned from her second tour with the Army in Iraq. I remember the first time that Kristin went overseas back in 2004 – I was still at the University of Florida when I heard that she would be one of the first groups to go over to Iraq with the Army. I remember talking with her on the phone and when she got back from her tour – we met up in Arizona when I was at ASU for a track meet. This time, Kristin had more communication opportunities with my family and I, all thanks to social media. We were able to do online chatting and she would be post picture – it was great to see what she was up to.
Mom and I had the chance to spend some time with Kristin this last time in Greece when we were presenting our paper at the ATINER Conference. We had a lot of fun going Greek dancing, seeing the sights, and sunbathing on our Greek Island tour. This Christmas is going to be a special one for the Freberg family – this is going to be the first time in several years where we are all together and it is really going to be wonderful. I am really looking forward to it. 🙂
So, I hope that everyone had a great and happy Veteran’s day – and thank you to all of those that have served or are serving our country – we can’t thank you enough for your bravery and courage. God bless you all!
