Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to you all! I am right now in California for the holidays, spending time with my wonderful family out in San Luis Obispo. This is the first time I have been home since about a year ago – a lot has happened since I have been back in SLO! Took and passed my comprehensive exams, became ABD (all but dissertation), went to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and presented at several conferences this year, passed my dissertation proposal, and continued to work on research and teaching. It has been busy, but fabulous as well!
So, for the holidays, we had the opportunity to try out one of the things that California is famous for – their wineries. I am not much of a drinker myself, but the atmosphere and overall environment was absolutely amazing. We had the chance to have dinner at Justin’s Winery in Paso Robles, CA. It took as a while to get there, but it was well worth it! The staff at the winery were very accommodating and nice, and the food was absolutely superb! It was also fun trying out the wine as well – last time I went wine tasting was back in Stellenbosch in South Africa back in 2007. It was overall a marvelous evening – it was great having dinner with Mom and Dad, and Justin’s Winery really has captured the overall spirit and presence of California in their wine.
If you have a chance, I would definitely make sure that you stop by, make a reservation, and enjoy a meal and experience unlike anything you will ever see besides in California!
Hope all is well and happy holidays! 🙂
Best Wishes,
Karen
